Merry Christmas everyone I hope you all spend these holidays enjoying the family traditions and tasty food! This week we had our Christmas lunch with president and sister hall and we had a nice little devotional about Christ. This week on the 23rd which is also my sisters birthday...so happy birthday sis! but on the 23rd we have 2 baptisms that are from the same family. Its a family of 4 and so the mom named Acela and her daughter that is 14 named Fernanda are getting baptised the dad is finally starting to take the discussions and came to church this last sunday so we will hopefully see him baptised here soon, and their other daughter is 7 named azul and she will turn 8 in january 7th and will be baptised on the 9th! so we are super excited for this family and we are looking forward to their baptisms on Wednesday.
Last night we had a stake devotional from the stake primary and the kids of the primary did a nativity of the birth of jesus and read the scriptural reference and then the stake president and his wife talked about the gift of chrsitmas and it was kind of funny because they had 2 beautifully wrapped presents and they asked the kids "do you want to see whats in them!" and of course all the kids yelled YES! well..SI and after their talk they opened the box and said "the best gift are blessing to open in the name of jesus christ amen!" poor kids were so dissapointed ahaha There was a story i heard this weekend in one of the talks sunday that i want to share with you all.....
There once was a young man who for christmas was given a brand new car from his older brother and as he was driving it around to get the feel for it he noticed a little boy of about 6 years waving him down. The young man came to a stop and asked the little boy "do you like my car?" "oh yes very much! Did you buy it?" he replied "no it was a gift from my brother.." "really! and it didnt cost a thing? can you take me around the block and stop in front of my house please?" and the young man thinking that the boy wanted to show off his ability to ride in such a nice car took the boy to his house when the boy got out and told him to wait right there...He returned with his younger brother who was in a wheel chair and couldnt walk and he said "dont you worry brother i am going to buy you a car just like this one so you can get to the places you need to go, this car didnt cost him anything and so i can buy you a car too and you wont have to worry anymore." The young man began to tear up as the boy asked to take his brother and him around the block he was humbled and willingly accepted to take the boys in his car.
This time is not about the gifts or the beautiful lights and colors, but more about the love we can give to others in this season. Jesus did not come to this earth in a glorious palace but rather in a humble manner in a stable with hay and animals. I invite you to remember the reason why we celebrate christmas in this time remember the meaning of the gifts we buy isnt to have more things to collect dust or to play with but rather to demonstrate the love we have for one another. I love you all and I wish you all an incredible Merry Christmas!
love you all
