Hey everyone!
So some quick facts about the MTC before I get into the good stuff: My p-days are Friday, the food after eating it everyday every meal gets to the point where it all tastes the same. We have 2 teachers Hermano Rios who served in Argentina but is Hispanic born, and Hermano Berrit who went to Tiawana Mexico and was our first fake investigator. We learn Spanish from speaking it all day everyday and I can now say full on Prayers and have conversations with investigators and get the point across most of the time. We have 3 hours a day where the first we have personal study and you study whatever the spirit tells you to study for your investigators you teach the same night. Then you have an hour with the companion study where you combine and decide what the investigator will need to hear that next lesson. Then the last hour is language study and we work with alot of flash cards and repetition and a program called TALL that helps with the pronunciation with Spanish. A quick review of what has happened so far this week....
Monday-
Me and Hermana Shupp studied a bunch and taught "Javier" Which was Hermano Berrit our fake investigator in the afternoon. Then that evening we had an on the spot investigator also known as TRC where the people could be real investigators or fake ones so you just have to pray super hard that the spirit will be there. so We were assigned Olga and she speaks very fast and is extremely impatient with us, and unwilling to learn what we have to say which doesn't make sense because she contacted us and apparently had questions about the church but when we taught her and asked what questions she had she said she didnt have any and that even though she practiced Catholicism she didnt believe in God so that was a roller coaster to deal with. She is just such a peach let me tell ya!
Tuesday-
We taught "Javier" again and had a very uneventful day of a ton of classes and studying so nothing really new. Me and Hermana Shupp had an army crawling contest and now have some beautiful souvenirs of the girls dorms of the MTC haha. We like to do some silly things to relieve our brains from time to time.
Wednesday-
Was an amazing day. We taught "Javier" and felt the spirit so powerful with our lesson and invited him to be baptized. It was our last lesson with him before he became our teacher but it was by far the best one yet. Anyways he said he wanted to think about it and that he knew what we taught was true but that he wanted his "family" to be apart of the decision too which is a huge step because his fake kid was already baptized and his wife knew about the gospel just wasnt baptized. We were just happy he didnt say no so it was a great day for us. I also started getting sick this day.
Thursday-
Javier or Hermano Beritt taught our class and even though he was a really nice guy I struggle with his teaching methods because he makes everyone do the companion and personal and language study in the class which is in the dark tiny room basement with 10 other people so its super hard to focus and get stuff done. Whereas Hermano Rios who i am taller than haha lets us go outside or in a separate place to do studying because of the distraction as long as we write on the board where we are going. Anyways as the day progressed i felt sicker and sicker. And by dinner at 5 pm I felt the sickest i have ever felt before, it was like someone held a black piece of paper up to my face and threw hammers at my body every time i moved. I even told my companion Hermana Shupp that if i threw up or passed out to take me to the hospital. So before we had to teach our TRC lady Olga Hermana Shupp asked if some of the elders in my district could give me a blessing, I had my district leader elder Ivan and his companion do the anointing and sealing and blessing for me and a miracle was preformed. I felt like a foggy mirror- it was like slowly every minute after the blessing i felt better and better i could feel my sickness leaving my body, and not only did their blessing cure my illness but I was left with more energy and alertness for the rest of the night and again for today. I felt like i could relate to the people who were sick and afflicted when Jesus was on the earth and he healed them, and I can only be grateful and mesmerized by how powerful the priesthood and faith in Gods power truly is. We were able to teach Olga a lesson on the atonement and how her sins could be forgiven and we felt so strongly the spirit and felt good about what we talked about, Hermana Shupp bore her testimony about families and the atonement and cried which she doesn't do often and I knew that what we taught was what God wanted her to hear, but because she wasn't open to us in the first place she rejected our message and practically kicked us out. She did however take the Book of Mormon we gave her and said she would read the assigned chapter by next visit so that was good. The chapter we gave her was Alma 32 its awesome if you get the chance to read it sometime. We also wrote our testimonies in it and now just get to hope and pray she will actually follow through with her commitment.
Friday-
So today!!!! We went to the temple with Sister Woodmansee and this week she has just been a super star. She finally got the hang of it and is doing really well so its been exciting to see her grow. every night our trio gets together before bed and say prayers in our languages so Sister Woodmansee says hers in Cebuano which we decided is every language mixed together and thrown up because it has so many similarities to different cultures, then either me or Hermana Shupp say one in Spanish so its really cool experience. Anyways back to today.....We went and did an endowment session and it was amazing! We were supposed to meet Mercedes our actual investigator today at 10 AM and she didnt show up so that was a bummer but it had been a week since the last appointment so she probably just forgot, we will have to catch her sometime this week. I got my hair cut today for free from the MTC barbers and its short but super cute! i have pictures but i cant figure out how to upload them so i will work on sending some either in a letter or sometime next week on p-day. I cut about 12 inches off and now my hair barely touches my shoulders but now i dont have to worry about one for another 18 months! We also did laundry today and Sister Woodmansee didn't know anything about doing laundry or how to wash them so we had to teach her today, and now our whole apartment looks like a laundry room from all the hang drying we had to do. We get an hour on p-day to email home so its hard to get to writing other people and responding to them about everything. However if Kallie asks you about not getting a reply to her letter tell her Im busy and working on one coming her way soon!!! Im glad the girls got to experience BYU campus and a cool thing is that you can actually get a job at the MTC if you are going to BYU or a return missionary so thats something Hailey could think about in the future. How is everyone at home? How is Seb liking school? it feels weird becasue i feel like i have been gone for like months but its only been a week so i feel like i have missed out on a bunch of stuff!
Anyways give my love to Macy and everyone on the homefront and I will report back next Friday! love you guys!
Hermana Jammet
P.S. sorry for the bad spelling lately i cant spell stuff in inglesh anymore and i cant remember my first name unless i think about it for a minute. its a weird culture being a missionary but its also amazing!
