So i dont have a ton of time but this week was amazing! I started to get bored haha. So one night my companion noticed that i wasn´t my normal peppy self and asked what was wrong and i told her..."Im bored of the mission, and i dont know why or how to fix it. So she told me that it happens when we get stuck in the same routine everyday and that the same thing happened to her a while back. So Thursday we had companionship changes for the day and a sister named Hermana Rivera was with me and my companion told me before we changed that i had to take 4 random pictures, Buy chocolate from a specific place, and contact in a random way. To start off i feel bad for Hna Rivera haha because it was one of the craziest days ever.
We had to contact a list of references together and so during this we contacted people with pamphlets and cards and service and then before one of our appointments we had almost an hour and nothing to do so i suggested we go to the park and contact people.....We get to the park and sit at a bench where there happened to be a white blank sign, so i grabbed the sign and wrote "GRATIS!!" which means FREE and set it down with pamphlets, a book of mormon and pictures of Jesus and started yelling "GRATIS!" "GRATIS!" and hermana Rivera just sat and looked at me like "here goes the crazy american girl" Well as the story goes we didnt have much success with it at first and so we thought maybe if we leave it someone will want to pick it up and guess what we were right....A man came by a picked up the Book of Mormon! We were thrilled we thought wow someone is ready our plan worked! Then Hermana Rivera asked me.."did you write your info inside the book?".........."uuuuuuuuh nope." Hahahah whoops im pretty sure this story is for the hall of fame of failures.
In the same day we happened to be walking again with Hermana Rivera and i was in dire need of a bathroom and just as i said "hermana i need to use a bathroom right now!" she pointed to grafiti that said "aqui no es baño" which translates to "here is not the bathroom" pretty ironic right?
The 3rd picture is at the Temple with Hermana Hall and my other friends of the mission. Right now is a very special time in Mexico City because after 2 years of renovations the doors of the temple are finally opening and we as sister missionaries have the grand privilege to be a part of this work. For the whole month of August the temple here is having an open house for anyone who wants to come and so our sister missionaries of our mission were asked to be guides during this time. So every other day we get to be in the temple and guiding people outside the temple and answering their questions they have. Well yesterday was the first day for us we had a training and a VIP tour of the temple and after so much time without going to the temple personally the experience i had was incredible. The spirit that was there was stronger than i have ever felt and i could feel the Holy Ghost testifying again that it was the House of the Lord and that the gospel is true. I could feel a love and power so strong i started to cry because i thought...If i could feel this how many peoples lives will change from their own experiences.
I can testify that families are forever and that this is possible through the Sacred Temples and the covenants we make inside. My testimony was confirmed yesterday that my family is forever and that this is the true purpose of a mission and of sharing the gospel. Baptisms are the first step but the temple is the only place where we can truly gain the promises of the Celestial Kingdom and i know this to be true without a doubt. I share this testimony with you all in the name of my savior Jesus Christ Amen.
I love you all and im so grateful for your support and letters you send me! Please keep in touch and let me know how your doing because i miss you guys....also a little side note today i hit the 10 month mark of my mission and i cant wait to see what the other 8 have in store for me!
lots of love, Kayla
